Sense Project

Since 1970, Head and Hands has offered non-judgmental and holistic health education programs to youth. All of our workshops are based on youths’ current needs and are tailored to the unique environment of every school/group that we visit.

By signing up for workshops, schools, health professionals and communities are working together to ensure the health and well-being of our students.

The Sense Project offers a series of three workshops for students aged 14-17 (Grade 9, 10 and 11 classes).

Workshop 1: Sex, Sexuality and Sexual Choices

• Introduction to sex and sexuality
• Sexual and gender identity
• Sexual decision-making and motivation

Workshop 2: STIs, HIV/AIDS and Contraception

• Transmission, prevention and testing for STIs and HIV/AIDS
• Safer sex practices and methods
• Contraception

Workshop 3: Healthy Relationships, Sexual Limit-Setting and Consent

• Personal sexual boundaries and how to communicate them
• Identifying and negotiating safer sex practices
• Consent

These three workshops provide students with the comprehensive information they need to make safe and healthy sexual choices. Although the Sense Project recommends following this 3-workshop program, workshops can also be tailored to suit the needs of your school.

**Condom Distribution**

Head & Hands is happy to provide free condoms for your school. We see this as a crucial aspect of sexual health education, and we are mandated by Public Health to ensure that youth in our area have access to free condoms. Distributing condoms to young people is consistent with our goal to reduce the rates of STIs and unintended pregnancies among youth.
